Tik Tok for Health

A man speaks into a microphone

When GraceMed Health Clinic in Wichita, Kansas launched a Tik Tok video campaign to help dispel false information about COVID-19 and flu vaccines, the faith-based health organization did not expect much success. “I would joke that we had three middle-aged men trying to figure out a young person’s game,” explained GraceMed Director of Communications, Jason Jennings. But thanks to a playful style that delivered factual information intercut with humorous clips from YouTube and Giphy, the videos developed a robust following on all social media outlets, frequently garnering over 500 views and in one case, topping 1400 views. “One person even mentioned that he was tuning in for the entire series!” said Jennings. As the campaign evolved, the team gave each video a specific film/TV theme, for example using “Home Alone” for a December post. In the end, the GraceMed pilot campaign exceeded all expectations. “We’re very proud of the content we’ve created,” said Jennings, “and my team enjoyed learning new things and having a little fun in the process.”
