Protection for the Whole Family

Mississippi-based nonprofit My Brother’s Keeper has been working to eliminate health disparities among underserved and vulnerable populations in the state for over 20 years. As part of their recent efforts to improve confidence in COVID-19 vaccines, they asked the local community how the virus has affected their lives and what inspired them to vaccinate.  They didn’t need to look far for a powerful story—a staff member from one of their own health clinics shared that her entire family of five contracted the Delta variant in June 2021. She battled the illness for 15 days along with her three sons (youngest age 3), and her mother who developed an enlarged heart because of the severity of her COVID-19 infection and now has an inhaler. After this personal health scare, the staff member sought out more information on the COVID-19 vaccines and decided to have her whole family vaccinated.
